Mantra tells the story of a businessman Kapil Kapoor and his family in the backdrop of changing India in the first decade of the new millennium. In 1991, the Government of India opened up the economy and unleashed the forces of globalization, forever changing the landscape of the country. A dozen years later, India was celebrating its emergence as a global economic super power. Set in 2004, in the midst of a nationwide ‘India Shining’ campaign, the film Mantra tells the intimate story of a family and its travails, and through it, the story of the New India.

About the Film
A young bride, fresh off the boat, living with her husband unwittingly becomes the subject of a stalker’s fascination. The obsessed stalker quickly makes her life a living hell. The loving husband makes light of the situation owing to her unfamiliarity with her new place and surrounding culture. These dynamics lead to unexpected events that shatter the lives of everyone involved.

Vikram Kolluru is a Controls and Automation Engineer by profession. Script writing and Direction are his hobbies. Silver Bullet, a short film that he directed was an official selection at DCSAFF 2013. Another short film that he acted in, The Ring, won the audience award at DCSAFF 2015. He actively participates in stage plays and short film making in the DC Metro area.
